Area Police
Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then located numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police state initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.
An important political figure commented the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
